ABB Saudi Arabia's HR chief Zeid Al Rumaihi led the discussion on developments in human talent last week at an event organized by the Chamber of Commerce in the Eastern Region and TeamOne consultants.

Invited to speak at the event following ABB Saudi Arabia's award as the best environment to work in Zeid Al Rumaihi stressed the need to invest in employees even during a downturn. The audience included representatives from 500 companies in the Eastern Region.

"We've focused on training, on improving the skills and abilities of our employees. During the hard times these investments count. They count even more when it comes to staff retention and recruitment," added Al Rumaihi.

Joined by HR professionals from some of the Eastern Region's leading companies, including Aramco and Sabic, Al Rumaihi detailed ABB's HR strategy and its results.

"Despite a focus on cutting costs, ABB is one multinational that has committed itself to its staff through training and development. We believe in this approach completely and ABB Saudi Arabia will continue to invest in our most important assets, our people."
