2009-02-07 - ABB participated in the International Exhibition for Mineral Exploration and Application (MENA-EX 2009) held at Jeddah Hilton from January 18 to 20, 2009.

The event held under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the Saudi Geological Survey and the Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden), began on January 18. The two-day strategic forum as well as the exhibition gave ABB the best opportunity to expose, endorse and promote ABB brand in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - the world's fastest growing mining market. More than 70 companies including ABB Switzerland supported by ABB Saudi Arabia exhibited their capabilities in MENA-EX with presentations, panel discussions and exhibition booths. ABB presented a broad scope of its capabilities in aluminum and minerals processing with products offerings in process automation, field instruments, drives, motors and power products. Senior managers from SAABB participated in the event.

The forum discussed number of topics including the investment opportunities and the Kingdom's emerging mining industry. Max Wiestner, industry manager, primary aluminum, ABB Switzerland, was among the panelists for group discussions on "reliable power for the mining industry".
MENA-EX also provided platform to meet potential partners and investors from the mining industry. ABB was one of the sponsors of the event.
